Health Education Programme
Government guidance states that from September 2019 Relationships Education will be compulsory within primary schools and Sex Education will be compulsory in secondary schools.
The Cornerstone Teaching School is offering a tailored programme on Health Education, Support and Guidance. The programme includes lessons on Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE), Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) and offers support in developing your school’s policies.
Programmes can be tailored to both primary and secondary school provision to suit needs and budgets.
Additional primary topics may include:
Body image and self esteem
First Aid or CPR
The importance of sleep
Smoking, drugs and alcohol
Positive choices
Sunsafety
Exercise
Lifecycles
The programme provides fun classes with hands-on experience. We have many resources which can be used with young people to allow them to engage and interact in the lessons. These resources will be provided, when required, with the programme selected. The programme also uses material from organisations such as the NSPCC, British Red Cross, St John Ambulance, PSHE Association and FPA.
We have a whole school approach to health, from the nursery to year 6, so the children get used to talking about the body, keeping safe, making good choices, healthy eating, dental hygiene, exercise, sleep and body image, and we can prepare them to grow up in the modern world.
Additional secondary topics may include:
Supporting emotional health and wellbeing
Self esteem
Promoting mental health
Domestic abuse (year 10+)
Safer sex and healthy relationships (year 10+)
Please note that both programmes are flexible and we would welcome a discussion with you so that we may collaborate in designing a programme that meets the specific needs and requirements of your setting.
