We work with two universities to accredit the following programmes (both will give you a PGCE and QTS):
Primary Primary with STEM subjects
Primary with Early Years Primary with Humanities
Primary with an I.T Specialism Primary with the Creative Arts
Primary with Mathematics Primary with English
For each course you will be asked to submit an application and you will be required to confirm that you meet the eligibility requirements for School Direct.
You will need to hold an undergraduate degree awarded by a UK higher education provider, or a recognised equivalent qualification.
You will need to have achieved a standard equivalent to grade C/4, or above, in the GCSE examinations in English and mathematics.
You must have achieved a standard equivalent to a grade C/4, or above, in a GCSE science subject examination.
All applicants will be asked for details of:
- Contact information
- Qualifications and educational history, including details of the institutions at which qualifications were gained
- Referees, including contact information
- Candidates are advised to have this information to hand before completing their application
You will also be required to submit a personal statement. This is your opportunity to explain why the school should offer you a place on the programme. As there is considerable competition for places, we recommend that you spend some time writing, drafting and checking this before submitting your application.
Registration and applications are completely free. In addition, the system allows you to save and manage your draft applications, and stores copies of your submitted applications for your reference. You can apply for School Direct places at up to three lead schools initially. You will be able to apply to further schools if any of your initial applications are unsuccessful.
You will be required to take the numeracy and literacy professional skills tests as part of the application process, and ensure that you have passed them both before the start of the course.
